Albuquerque Adventures

we didn’t realize we were making memories.

we just knew we were having fun.

This past week, I had a visit from my dear friend, Gretchen! This was her second trip to New Mexico, and I was overjoyed when we had the opportunity to spend 3 days together in Albuquerque. We have known each other for over 8 years. We met at Youth Group when she was just a teen. I was a Youth Leader, she a student and we hit it off right away. Fast forward to now, our Mentor-Mentee relationship has molded into a beautiful + fun friendship!

This was Gretchen’s first time to Albuquerque! We ran around town, eating at local eateries such as Seared and Fork & Fig. I wanted to show her the gems of Albuquerque as well as give her a taste of the Southwest. Gretchen could not come to New Mexico and not try green chile. Let’s just say, Cocina Azul did not disappoint, and served Gretchen the green chile heat that native New Mexicans love. She was a champ and embraced this hot staple! Her stay was filled with adventures, including a trip to Santa Fe to visit Meow Wolf, a haunted Escape Room at NM Escape Room, shopping at Spur Line Supply Co. (a store after our own hearts), and taking in the city lights at the Apothecary Lounge at Hotel Parq Central.

I’m so glad I got to show Gretchen some of my New Mexico favorites as well as discover some new ones. More than the experiences we had, it was the conversations and laughter we shared that made her visit so special! Gretchen is truly a beautiful person from the inside out! To this day, I am always impressed by her clever mind, her thoughtfulness, and her maturity. Her light for Christ has shined through from the first day I met her. To say the least, I love this girl, and I am so thankful for the many adventures we’ve had together + look forward to the many adventures still to come!
